When the renowned construction business Drawn Metal Ltd closed earlier this year, it brought the curtain down on nine decades of corporate history. Specialising in providing bespoke shopfronts, entrances, canopies, architectural metalwork and low-level curtain walling, Leeds based Drawn Metal Ltd (DML) was forced to appoint administrators in January 2017.
Drawn Metal Ltd had built a strong reputation for their skills and workmanship, and had been the supplier of choice to the shopfitting industry and specialist contractors alike. They had worked with many esteemed names and iconic brands, including Burberry, Calvin Klein, Ferrari, H&M, Lacoste, Rolex, Superdry, Tiffany & Co. and the award winning Victoria Gate Shopping Centre.
More than 70 jobs were set to have been lost at the 92-year-old firm and it was feared the skilled workforce would be forced to leave the region in search of opportunities in other parts of the UK. However, HansenGroup quickly recognised that the specialist skills, product offering and protect teams expertise would complement the existing specialist products and services offered by AccentHansen in the UK.
Needing quickly to expand and provide factory space for the manufacturing and fabrication of new specialist products, a site in Ossett was acquired by HansenGroup and prepared. Within weeks, the new facilities and team were fully operational and contributing to the output of AccentHansen.
All the indications are that the inclusion of the new specialist team and products are proving of great value to AccentHansen business. A number of large prestigious projects have already been successfully negotiated for bespoke shopfronts, entrances, canopies and architectural metalwork throughout the UK.
