The project consisted of extending and refurbishing the railway station multi storey car park to increase its capacity from 450 to more than 800 long stay parking spaces. The redevelopment of the car park includes cycle and motorcycle parking, short stay and passenger drop off, as well as a taxi rank built adjacent to the existing multi storey, and the creation of a brand new entrance off Mill Street. These works are closely surrounded by the canal on one side, and the railway line on the other, requiring detailed interface with the public. The external works, services and drainage (including a very large attenuation tank), are installed to Network Rail’s exacting standards. The building was completed in January 2017.
AccentHansen supplied the steel doorsets for pedestrian access to the various levels of the new build car park. The doors are fire-rated with many containing vision panels.
