Polar has been awarded the fabrication and installation of the internal courtyard windows, external doors and curtain walling for the prestigious new £429 million Royal Liverpool University Hospital project. The Polar contract is worth over £1.5 million, and will begin on site in February 2015. The main contractor is Carillion.
The project is for the Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen University Hospitals Trust, and it replaces the existing Royal University Hospital in Liverpool’s Knowledge Quarter. When completed in 2017, it will have a 646-bed capability and will be the largest hospital in the country, with a 40-bed critical care unit, 18 operating theatres and one of the largest emergency departments in the North West of England.
